Cloakrooms- questions and answers.
Q.Do you manufacture the cloakroom furniture yourselves?

A.Our products are manufactured at our Chesterton site.

Q.Is your cloakroom furniture made to measure or does it come in standard lengths?

A.The products are manufactured to suit customer requirements.

Q.Can you send someone to take site measurements and give advice?

A.Yes, we have a team of advisors and surveyors who will visit if required.

Q.What materials are your cloakroom furniture made from?

A.Seat slats are generally supplied in ash. Framework is supplied in plastic coated steel. Other materials/finishes are also available.

Q.What is the finish on the timber?

A.All the Ash has rounded edges, is sealed and spray finished.

Q.What is the measurement from wall to front of seat normally?

A.The basic seat with 3 slats is 300mm from wall to front of seat, by using additional slats this can be increased to 400mm or 450mm to meet 'SPORT ENGLAND' recommendations.

Q.What colours are available for the seat frame and backs?

A.We have a standard colour range of primary colours. These are shown in the Broxap Specifier's Directory. We can email or post a copy of the colour range. Any RAL colour not in the standard range can be used - POA.

Q.Do you manufacture mobile cloakroom units on castors?

A.Yes we do, our standard mobile cloakroom unit is 500mm wide x 1500 long and is available in heights to suit infants, juniors or seniors. Units have 2" rubber tyred castors. The mobile cloakroom units can accommodate a total of 30-40 hooks (up to a maximum of 40 hooks).

Q.Do you manufacture drying room units for Policemen/Firemen tunics?

A.Yes, these are made in consultation with the relevant Police/Fire Stations.

Q.Do you also manufacture kit racks for Police/Fire Stations?

A.Yes, these products are illustrated in the Broxap Main Product Catalogue.

Q.Can you supply cloakroom or changing room furniture?

A.Yes, we manufacture a wide range of quality cloakroom and changing room furniture.

Q.What is your lead time from date of order to delivery of the goods to site?

A.Normally it is best to allow 4 weeks if possible from confirmation of site dimensions. However Broxap will attempt to meet any reasonable timescale

Q.Is your cloakroom/changing room furniture suitable for wet area changing such as swimming pools?

A.Yes, we do manufacture a range of furniture for swimming pool changing areas. This comprises of solid grade laminate seating and coat hook rails with stainless steel or galvanized thick plastic coated steel framing.

Q.Is your cloakroom/changing room furniture delivered to site fully assembled?

A.All of our range can be delivered to site fully assembled, except for captive coat hanger units which are normally supplied flat packed for assembly on site.

Q.Does your range of grab rails and shower seats meet current DDA recommendations?

A.Yes, our grab rails and shower seats have been designed in consultation with the Disabled Living Centre and similar advisory organisations.

Q.Do you supply and install lockers?

A.Yes, there are a full range of lockers with details in the Broxap Main Product Catalogue.

Q.Is your cloakroom furniture easy to install?

A.Yes, the seating has frames set at 1 metre centres and end frame has two fixing plates. Each fixing plate has an 8mm diameter hole for fixing into walls or floors depending on type of frame.

Q.Do you manufacture cantilever changing room seating for fixing to wall only without any frames down to
the floor to make cleaning easier?

A.Yes, we can manufacture seating with cantilever frames. However, we would always recommend that changing room seating does have frames with at least one support to the floor. Cantilever frames without floor supports rely totally on the strength of the wall to which they are fixed.

Q.Can alternative types of timber be used for your cloakroom/changing room furniture?

A.Yes, we have been asked to use timbers such as Beech, Oak, Iroko or Maple. Any timber we use comes from a sustainable source. We have found the most suitable and economical timber for cloakroom/changing rooms is Ash. However, for our range of outdoor seating we would normally use Iroko.

Cycle Parking- questions and answers.
Q.What are the most popular designs of stands?

A.The Sheffield and Harrogate cycle stands are the most popular type. This type of stand is economical and strong and allows the cycle to be secured at several points with a chain or 'D' lock. There are also other designs of stands such as the Camden that are becoming increasingly popular.

Q.How may a Cycle Stand be fixed?

A.Stands may either be surface fixed by means of a pre drilled base plate or submerged fixed by means of an extended root leg

Q.From what materials may Cycle Stands be manufactured?

A.Broxap is able to supply cycle stands manufactured from Cast Iron, Mild Steel, Stainless Steel & Polyurethane (PU).

Q.What distance between stands do you recommend?

A.Broxap recommends that stands should be set at 800mm spacings. This will comfortably allow access and storage of 2 cycles between the stands.

Q.What is a Toastrack?

A.A Toastrack is a cycle storage unit comprising of a number of Sheffield or Harrogate stands interconnected to form a rack allowing secure storage of a number of cycles.

Q.How many cycles will a Toastrack hold?

A.A number of toastracks may be bolted together to offer any number of Cycle parking spaces. The most popular single rack comprises of 5 hoops providing storage for 10 cycles.

Q.What colours are available?

A.A standard range of colours are available as illustrated in the Broxap Main Product Catalogue. Other BS/RAL colours are also available - POA.

Q.What is the most popular type of cycle Shelter?

A.The WardaleTM design of shelter is currently the most popular. This shelter has become the benchmark of may standard shelter designs.

Q.How many Cycles will a Shelter hold?

A.Broxap offer many shelter designs which are able to accommodate various number of cycles. Shelters may be extended or used in conjunction with each other to form compounds to provide storage for any number of cycles.

Q.Do you install Shelters?

A.Yes, we install the majority of shelters. Broxap has a professional installation team who will undertake any shelter installation. A member of our sales team will be able to offer information on prices for installation.

Q. How long does it take to receive a quotation for a Shelter?

A.General quotations are dealt with and returned within 24 hours. However our technical sales advisors are available during business hours to provide budget prices or technical information/guidance.

Fencing and Guardrail- questions and answers.
Q.How do I obtain prices for fencing & guardrail?

A.Budget prices may be obtained from the Broxap Main Product Catalogue or obtained by contacting our sales department. However for an accurate quotation, drawings or specifications may be faxed, posted or emailed to our sales office who will produce an accurate quotation by return.

Q.Can someone visit site to offer advice?

A.Yes, Broxap has a team of Area Sales Managers who are able to offer solutions and technical advice on any of our products. Our expert team of draughtsmen and surveyors are also able to visit site to carry out surveys and subsequently produce drawings.

Q.If I send drawings to Broxap email do they have to be in a specific format?

A.Our drawing office would require drawings to be forwarded in the following formats: DGN, DWG or PDF.

Q.Do your systems meet with British Standards?

A.Yes, all pedestrian guardrails are manufactured to the British Standard (BS 7818). Bow top and vertical bar fencing is also manufactured to meet the British Standard (BS 1722-9-2000).

Q.What heights of fencing are available?

A.We are able to supply bow top and vertical bar fencing in a range of heights. These range from 600mm high to 2400mm high.

Q.Does mild steel fencing and pedestrian guardrail rust?

A.All mild steel products supplied by Broxap undergo a process known as galvanizing. The product is dipped into a bath of molten zinc which forms a protective barrier around the products and therefore prevents rusting or oxidisation. Broxap products are galvanized to the British Standard BS EN ISO 1461:1999.

Q.Can you supply gates to match?

A.Yes, gates may be manufactured to suit any system. A number of options are available including both single leaf pedestrian gates and double leaf vehicle access gates.

Q.What colours are available?

A.A standard range of colours are illustrated in the Broxap Main Product Catalogue. Alternative BS/RAL colours may also be available - please contact a member of our sales team.

Hand Made Places- questions and answers.
Q.What type of wood do you use and why?

A.European Red Pine and Douglas Fir. We have found it to be the least reactive to atmospheric conditions.

Q.Is Hand Made Places Timber from sustainable sources?

A.Yes, all our timber comes from a Forestry Stewardship Certificated (FSC) chain of supply.

Q.Do you manufacture bespoke play equipment?

A.Yes, we offer a bespoke design and manufacturing service. Special engraving, whether commemorative or otherwise, can be an addition to many of our standard products.

Q.How do you treat the timber?

A.The timber goes through a tanalisation process. This means post installation the customer does not have to treat the equipment.

Q.Can you provide safety surfaces?

A.Yes, Hand Made Places offer impact absorbing surfaces which are a crucial element to any play area. Our most popular surfaces are grass saver matting, hard wood chips, coloured wet pour and outdoor carpet surfacing.

Q.Do Hand Made Places provide a complete design to completion package?

A.Yes, Hand Made Places offers an entire ‘conception to completion’ package. Consultation, site visit, survey, design, installation (equipment and surfacing), and maintenance.

Q.What are your lead times?

A.All our equipment is made to order. Lead times vary from 4 to 10 weeks, depending on the complexity of the manufacturing process.

Q.Can you offer advice on inclusive play?

A.Yes we have many products suitable for children with a vast spectrum of additional needs that have been designed whilst working with expert practitioners.

Q.Do you make equipment that would satisfy EYFS and DCFS requirements for play?

A.Our experienced consultants can offer advice and share expertise on specific equipment for all age ranges.

Litter Bins- questions and answers.
Q.Do you keep litter bins in stock?

A.Yes, various designs of cast iron, mild steel, stainless steel and plastic litter bins are kept in stock.

Q.Which is your most popular litter bin?

A.The most popular litter bin currently supplied by Broxap is the Derby litter bin. This is regarded as the toughest litter bin in the UK.

Q.Are you able to provide a demonstration of a litter bin?

A.Yes, we are able to provide a demonstration on any of our litter bins on request.

Q.Is it possible to have a trial period of a litter bin?

A.Yes, we are able to offer a litter bin on trial for a 3 month period without obligation after which time the litter bin may be purchased or returned to Broxap.

Q.Out of what materials may litter bins be manufactured?

Q.What colours are the cast iron & steel litter bins available in?

Q.How are Litter Bins fixed to the ground?

A.All litter bins are supplied with fixing kits to enable secure fixing.

A.Yes logos in various forms may be incorporated into most litter bin designs.

Q.How long does it take to refurbish a litter bin?

A.On average the time taken to refurbish a litter bin is approximately 1 week.

Q.Are the post mounted litter bins supplied with or without posts?

A.The majority of post mounted litter bins may be supplied with a dedicated post or may be supplied with a stainless steel banding tape bracket to secure the litter bin onto an existing post.

Q.Who are 'ODM Objectdesign Mosbach' and where is the product manufactured?

A.ODM Objectdesign Mosbach are a leading German manufacturer of Street Furniture and form part of the Kettler group.

Q. What materials are 'ODM Objectdesign Mosbach' products available in?

A. ODM Objectdesign Mosbach products are available in: a. Stainless Steel
b. Mild steel
c. Aluminium
d. Stainless Steel and Timber (seats).

Q. How long does it take to deliver?

A.The majority of the 'ODM Objectdesign Mosbach' products may be delivered within 4-5 weeks.

Q.Can the seats be supplied with Armrests?

A. Yes, many seats are available with armrests this includes seats within the B100, B200, B300, B500, B800, D200 & D300 ranges. Other seats may also be modified to incorporate armrests, please contact a member of our Sales Team.

Q.From which type of timber are the slats on the seats manufactured?

A. The timber slats are manufactured from American White Oak. Slats may also be supplied in other types of timber on request.

Q. Are replacement slats available?

A. Yes replacement slats are available for all seats within our range. Prices for replacements may be obtained through a member of our Sales Team.

Q. How are the seats fixed?

A. There are several methods of fixing the seats: a. Root fixed - where the seat is supplied with an extended leg for concreting into the ground.
b. Surface fixed - where the seat is supplied with a pre-drilled base plate for surface fixing.
c. Submerged fixed (B100 range only) - the seat is supplied with ground anchors to fix firmly into to the ground.
d. Movable mounting (indoor use only) where the seat is supplied without fixings to allow for ease of repositioning).

Q. Do any of the stainless steel products rust?

A. No, Stainless Steel by nature of its composition is a rust free material. Full technical specification is available from one of our technical sales advisors.

Q.What colours are available?

A. We are able to supply products within the 'ODM Objectdesign Mosbach' range in a number of standard colours these are illustrated in the Broxap Main Product Catalogue. Other nonstandard colours may also be available. Please contact a member of our Sales Team for current prices and availability.

Q. Can I purchase replacement liners for the litter bins?

A. Yes, replacement liners are available for any of our litter bins.

Q. What material are the liners made from?

A. The liners are manufactured from sheet aluminium.

Q. How bright are the illuminated bollards?

A. MWH illuminated bollards operate at 9-25w and provide 450-1200 Lumens.

Q. What is the life expectancy of the bulb in an 'ODM Objectdesign Mosbach' illuminated bollard?

A. The compact bulb lamp option has a service life of approximately 8,000 hours. Alternatively bollards are available with an LED illumination option with a life expectancy of 150,000 hours.

Signage- questions and answers.
Q.How long does it take to deliver a finger post?

A. The majority of standard signage products may be delivered in approximately 4 weeks. However Broxap will endeavour to meet any reasonable delivery requirements.

Q.Are you able to supply non-standard signs?

A. Yes, we are able to supply signage systems to suit our customers' requirements.

Q. Out of what types of material is a finger post system manufactured?

A. The finger post comprises of a cast section which is available in cast iron, ductile iron, or cast aluminium and a mild steel shaft section. finger armss are manufactured from cast aluminium, whilst finials are available in either cast iron or cast aluminium.

Q.How many characters can be accommodated on a finger arms?

A. A typical finger arms will accommodate 26 characters; however, this is dependent on the size of the text required and the number of breaks between words. A member of our Sales Team will be able to offer further advice on request.

Q.How tall is a finger post column?

A. The height of a finger post column may be determined by our customer. The maximum height that we would normally supply is 4.5 mtrs.

Q. Can additional finger armss be added?

A. Yes, any number of additional finger armss may be added by utilising column height extensions. These are illustrated in the Broxap Main Product Catalogue.

Q.How are the finger armss attached to the post?

A. The finger armss are attached to the column by means of an Allen Headed Grub Screw.

Q. How are the finger posts fixed to the ground?

A. a.Root fixed - where the column is supplied with an extended leg for concreting into the ground.
b.Surface fixed - where the column is supplied with a pre drilled base plate for surface fixing, this system also allows the base plate to be submerged.
c.Removable - where the column may be supplied with a removable column base extension.

Q. What sizes of display cases can be supplied?

A. Display cases may be manufactured to suit any customer requirements. The majority of display cases have a viewing panel height of 1000mm and panel widths ranging from 800mm to 2400mm.

Q. Can a display case be internally illuminated?

A. Yes, display cases may be supplied internally illuminated.

Q. What type of material is the glazing manufactured from

A. We use 6mm gauge PETg for the glazing on our display cases. We are also able to offer toughened glass as an option.

Q. Can a display case be fitted onto a cast iron finger post column?

A. Yes, our range of display cases may be supplied with standard mild steel posts or may utilise any of our finger post column designs.

Tree Grilles- questions and answers.
Q. What sizes are the largest and smallest Tree Grilles?

A. The smallest tree grille in our range is 800mm square (or round). The largest tree grille in the Standard Broxap range is 2020mm (square or round options). Our load bearing Buderus range offers a maximum size of 2800mm diameter.

Q. Why do I need a Tree Frame?

A. It is essential that a Tree Frame is used in conjunction with a Tree Grille. The frame provides support to the grille. If not used, the tree grille will not be securely held in place and may sink or shift.

Q. Can the Tree Grille be easily stolen when in situ?

A. Broxap recommends that security clamps are used when installing a tree grille and frame. Security clamps secure the tree grille to the frame to prevent theft. Security clamps are illustrated in the tree protection section of the Broxap Main Product Catalogue.

Q. Can a Tree Guard be installed at a later date?

A. Yes, a tree guard may be supplied and installed at a later date. In this instance the tree guard is supplied with spiked legs which may be concreted into the ground allowing simple installation.

Q.Can I install a Tree Grille and frame before the tree has been planted?

A. Yes, this may be achieved by using a tree frame with detachable central supports.

Q.Can Tree Grilles be supplied with irrigation holes and uplighter holes?

A. Yes, any tree grill can be supplied with irrigation or uplighter holes. Current models are detailed in the Broxap Main Product Catalogue.

Q. Do Tree Grilles corrode?

A. All mild steel components such as the Tree Frames & Tree Guards are galvanized and will not corrode. Broxap Tree Grilles are coated with a high quality acrylic paint. If the paint is chipped and not repainted the grille will show slight surface oxidisation however this will not affect the integrity of the grille. System Buderus Tree Grilles are supplied uncoated as standard and are allowed to oxidise. After a short period of time this forms a self-protecting layer.

Q.When would a Buderus Tree Protection system be used?

A. A Buderus tree protection system should be used in areas where the possibility of vehicles passing near to or over the tree grille exists. Buderus grilles are specifically designed and tested to withstand pre-determined loads.
