Stadia Supports UK Javelin Association

Over the last 29 years, part of our vision has been to see an uptake in participation in all areas of sport – from ‘grass roots’ all the way through to a professional level. We encourage increased safety standards, fair play and the use of quality equipment to help sportsmen and women achieve the best possible results.

To reinforce our commitment to UK sports, Stadia are pleased to announce a partnership with the UK Javelin Association.

Clifton Green from the UK Javelin Association commented,

“The UK Javelin association was set up with some well defined goals, to increase the awareness of javelin throwing, provide multiple opportunities for new and existing athletes to get involved, establish key links with the governing bodies throughout the UK, and most importantly of all search for unknown talent to make sure the future of javelin throwing in the UK is successful. This year brings about our 3rd Annual Javelin Carnival, to be held on the 8th/9th September, and it is to be the biggest yet with the best throwers from around the country converging for the very last time in the season and take home the bragging rights. Part of the idea behind our carnival however, is to give the young stars of the future an opportunity to see the best in the UK and provide inspiration to be the very best.

“Over the past 2 years we have recognised the importance of developing links with companies associated with javelin throwing in order to add weight to the messages we are aiming to get across. In 2011 we became ambassadors for Nordic Sports, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of javelin equipment, and through that association an opportunity arose to develop an even closer link with Stadia Sports. This was an opportunity like no other. With the support, expertise and vast range of Nordic javelins held by Stadia Sports we are able to offer our members and the entire javelin community access to the best prices in the UK. Not only that but Stadia Sports share in our vision and stand by our side to ensure that the future of javelin throwing in the UK is successful. We at the UKJA have no doubt that their support will help us do just that.”

We look forward to working closely with the UK Javelin association and hope this partnership will benefit all UK javelin throwers. UKJA members will also be entitled to receive a 5% discount on athletics products supplied by Stadia Sports. With units needing to conform to the highest build standards, they also needed to provide a corporate university message, whilst having the ability to advertise forthcoming events.

For many areas, single litter bins were sufficient, but as the university is looking to promote its on-going recycling campaigns, a four waste stream unit was needed. To accommodate the university’s needs, Broxap took the already successful Derby Quad, and reduced its overall size, to make it both more user friendly and fit within areas where space is at a premium.
The result is a range of Broxap products, from Derby Standard litter Bins, SEPR8 recycling banks and Derby Quad (slim line variants) being selected as being the Universities choice for this and future developments.

Pembury Hospital

Broxap has designed, manufactured and installed 6 bespoke canopies at Pembury Hospital as part of the O’Rourke new build project. The canopies are envisaged to form a major focal point for the whole hospital build and are designed to incorporate into the existing structures of the hospital. Broxap predominantly wanted the canopies to provide as much weather protection as possible to patients, staff and visitors alike.

Due to the required build phases and a restriction of the areas available to the Principal Contractor, Broxap was required to build the canopy in two separate phases which were separated by approximately 12 months. This required extensive surveying detail at the initial build phase to ensure an accurate match-up upon commencing the second phase of construction allowing us to precisely and swiftly complete the canopies.

The largest and most striking of the 6 canopies is situated at the Main Entrance; the Standing Seam Roofed Canopy is supported by attractive “Y” shaped columns which are affixed to the platform base. Lighting strip allowance has been incorporated along the length of the underside of the canopy roof to ensure that the pedestrianized area is well lit.

The Pembury hospital build is rumoured to win many construction awards and Broxap’s canopies are contributing immensely to the overall aspect!

Our clients Laing O’Rourke have reported back that they are extremely happy with the build and our professionalism and they have even suggested that there may be further work opportunities for Broxap on their forthcoming projects, further enhancing the working relationship between Laing O'Rourke and Broxap.

A new Ball Hall sports facility was recently opened by Her Majesty the Queen at St John's Beaumont in Windsor. The £2m facility includes a rock climbing wall, a state-of-the-art cricket facility, rowing room, gymnasium and a sports hall.

The sports hall also provides enough room for assembly space, allowing examinations and presentations to take place. An ingenious demountable draping system installed during construction enables the conversion of the main sports hall to an elegant indoor space for gatherings of the school community and other social engagements.

Stewart Dennerley, Managing Director of Stadia Sports Installations said "Everyone involved in the Ball Hall project at St John's Beaumont has worked incredibly hard to deliver the highest quality finish and bring the most suitable products to the build, ensuring that the school is left with a facility that will serve them well for years to come. We were honoured to be part of this amazing effort, and having Her Majesty the Queen open the facility was a proud moment for us all and a fitting end to the project."

As part of our “love where you…” campaign, we are pleased to announce the arrival of our “Love where you learn” programme. Applying the format of our colourful Sepr8 recycling range, we’ve managed to collaborate the unit with our very own Ronnie Recycler!

Our Ronnie Recycler is a teaching component allowing teachers to create activities and competitions to excite and allow their pupils to have an active role in recycling. Our ethos behind the recycling unit is to increase awareness and the desire to recycle at both home and in school.

Broxap is aiming to encourage teachers to utilise recyclable material found in the classroom to create their own Ronnie Recycler Robot to increase inclusive play for children as well as teaching them the importance of recycling. After they have built their very own Ronnie Recycler we then want the pupils to correctly identify recyclable materials with the aid of our recycling iconography on the lid apertures, supporting the integration of recycling with current curriculum. Our recycling iconography assists young children in recognizing the images on the apertures in relation to the recyclable materials they have and helps to indicate the correct bin to use.

Broxap are also supplying a solution to your voucher collection boxes, offering a new, strong and lockable Voucher Collection Bin. Students, Parents and staff alike can see their efforts with the growing amount of vouchers seen through the tough Perspex panel. Provided with a weatherproof hooded top and lockable doors customers can place the collection bin either indoors or outdoors!

Don’t let rubbish ruin your streets, keep them tidy and dispose of recyclable waste properly!

As one part of Broxap’s latest “love where you…”waste disposal campaign, we are urging local communities to pull together and utilise our bins to support “love where you live”, to nurture a litter-free neighbourhood environment.

Using The Derby Range of Recycling Units (renowned to be the toughest in the UK with a virtually indestructible door hinge system!) we are helping by providing such attributes as the cigarette stub and gum disposal options, as such small features can make a big difference to the streets.

We also offer our bestselling Sepr8 Recycling Units, available with custom graphics and colour coded apertures, which allows recycling to be made fun and accessible for all the family. The recycling unit is easy to use as it clearly indicates what waste should go where choosing from up to five waste streams with graphics on the lids to help.

Broxap has a strong recycling ethos, and we provide an efficient and cost effective refurbishment programme which allows customers to revive a tired recycling unit, the ultimate programme for reduce, reuse, recycle!

As part of this campaign we are proud to launch our latest product The Trojan Recycling Unit. With the aesthetics of the community areas becoming increasingly important we have created the first bin in the litter bin market with a unique roller shutter door complete with customised graphics! Our new stylish roller door has a reduced risk of hitting members of the public when opened to empty, as well as reducing protrusion onto the footpath so areas of high foot traffic can remain undisturbed.

Available in a multiple of capacities varying from 120ltr to 1280ltr the Trojan Recycling unit is suitable for applications from commercial premises to supermarket sites. Our flexibility is a key benefit as we have designed the Trojan to be either built on the site, or simply placed straight into a customer’s chosen position. The bins are manufactured from mild steel box section side frame construction complete with 2mm gauge galvanised panels and doors. Broxap can also offer optional custom graphics for the panels to suit a client’s brief and create a unique recycling unit. We have ensured that the ergonomical footprint is reduced by fitting the bin concisely around the internal liner making the Trojan extremely space efficient.

Broxap’s products will help to reduce waste on the street and with a variety of reliable recycling units available, we plan to encourage local authorities and individuals alike to use them effectively and help save the planet step by step.

New Advertising Addition bought in bulk by Sheffield County Council

Broxap received an order from Sheffield City Council for the Derby Flagship litter bin affixed with the latest additional product choice of the advertising panel.

Sheffield City Council picked this particular option was chosen with the aims to increase revenue by commercial opportunities through bin advertisement. Each advertising panel can hold A3 sized paper and is secured with an internal lock on the front allowing the advertisements to be interchangeable and safe.

Broxap customised the Derby by transferring a gold Sheffield City Council logo onto the front and back as well as laser cut ‘LITTER’ gold text beneath each of the four sloping mouth posting apertures. For the lid design we added a Pyramid Lid completed with a self-closing cigarette Stirling style ashtray which aims to act as a deterrent for cigarette butts littering the street.

The tough Zintec steel construction makes the Derby Flagship ideal for high streets and the litter bin is finished in Powder Galvanized Prime and anti-graffiti Polyurethane Powder Coat. With a 120 litre capacity the Derby enabled Sheffield City Council to empty the litter bins less frequently and with a low risk of overflowing; this provided the council with a cost effective solution as there is less cost for emptying.

The University of Reading enjoys a high quality environment at its four available campuses. It is dedicated to maintaining and, wherever possible, improving the quality of this environment.

The University produces over 1,600 tonnes of waste from its campuses and Halls of Residences and is committed to reducing the amount of waste that is going to Landfill sites. To increase its recycling rates the university contacted Broxap to install twenty SEPR8 Recycling bins.

The four apertures for the different types of waste streams fit perfectly with the University’s policy of segregating waste at source and it is hoped that these bins will make a significant difference to the recycling figures.

Broxap have helped to supply the NHS Foundation Trust with reliable and creative recycling bins situated around Blackpool Victoria Hospital.

The recycling bin project has demonstrated the flexibility of Broxap; we have not only contributed to contemporising the way in which people think about recycling, but also encouraged the younger generation and NHS staff alike to actively do it.

The colourful artwork displayed on the front of the bins (which can be seen in the picture below) was designed by 12 years old Blackpool local, Ellie Spickett, winner of the NHS Trusts Art Competition.

We used 14 of our SEPR8 range recycling bins with Ellie’s design applied and through its success there are hopes to extend the contract further by covering other sites within the Blackpool, Fylde and Wyre Hospitals.

Working in collaboration with the NHS Trust has displayed our strength in product differentiation as we offer a service whereby the consumers can customize their products in relation to their given briefs.

Richard Moore, Waste Reduction Officer for the Trust, said: “The designs are excellent. They really do catch the eye and encourage people to recycle. It is really important that we do all we can do to encourage people, including our staff, to dispose of their waste and these bins will really help.”

The bins are available on http://www.litterbin.co.uk/products/bx45_sepr8-l-s_single_sided_sepr8_recycling_centre.php

Broxap renew their cliental with Glasgow City Council

Broxap are happy to work once more with Glasgow City Council, renewing not only their cliental but their planters too!

Wanting help to raise the profile of the city, Glasgow City Council came to Broxap wanting to work with a trusted quality supplier; requiring new and creative designs as well as being practical amenities. From this brief we decided to generate a range of Bespoke designs which were easy to stack and fit into the surrounding city areas.

The council wanted to revamp the tired planters in the city centre, the planter sleeves were designed about manufactured in Nottingham, where we applied a new Stainless Steel coat to help in regenerating their image.

Broxap took into consideration Glasgow City Councils desire to raise awareness for recycling on the go, so we designed and built an immediately recognisable unit for public use. We devoted designs to a specification that would help to modernise the way in which the community recycle as well as ensuring litter is disposed of properly. Being the conscientious business we are, Broxap produced a unique design for the Council that was both practical and eye-catching. We ensured pictures of what’s suitable to be put in the recycling section underneath differing apertures so there is clarification as to which is to be used for waste or recycling.

Additionally we have managed to secure further deals with the Glasgow County Council as we were able to provide a vast quantity of our Sheffield Cycle Stands. This helps to provide the locals the ability to maintain a healthier lifestyle with a more active approach to travelling. By supplying useful products from our other divisions helps to prove we are a one stop shop for Street Furniture needs.

Broxap has recently supplied to Onchan, Isle of Man providing 18 of the Derby 300ltr Sack Holder litter bins. We delivered the bins coated with our newly developed Cromadex C5 Waterside Finish, which provides the essential protection from sea-salt erosion.

Onchan District Commissioners requested the Derby Sack Holder litter bins be personalized with a vibrant red coloured paint to stand out as a clear indication as to where the public may dispose of their waste. Using this durable finish not only means that we guaranteed the products reliability and coastal weather resistance; we also met the clients colour brief requirements. Seagull Flaps are fitted to all apertures preventing seagulls from scattering any potential litter, allowing the waste to be securely enclosed. The Derby allows a large 300ltr capacity, meaning the risk of overfilling on the coastal front is reduced.

Within this order were 8 of our Junior SEPR8’ recycling units. Broxap’s overall aim of the Junior SEPR8 is to develop the importance of recycling to children and we believe this recycling unit has a paramount approach that is fun yet educational.

Using the aid of colourful bright graphics we have been able to style the recycling unit in a bright and instructive manner. The colour coded external flaps help to clearly indicate which section the child needs to deposit their recycling goods. The simple single-sided recycling bin will help to reduce the reliance on landfills to get rid of visitors waste helping to extend the popular holiday homes green factor.

Aberdeen College pick Broxap to provide a range of bins

Once more, Broxap has been able to secure a large deal with an educational learning centre. Aberdeen College wanted to encourage their students to recycle and develop a greener surrounding environment; and this inspired them to purchase from our SEPR8 range. It was a practical solution to providing the student with a clear colour-coded aperture system so that the correct recycling was taking place. We were only happy to oblige when the college wanted to customise their SEPR8 recycling units, having the name and logo engraved on the front panel.

Aberdeen ordered 12 of our Daventry internal recycling units, each with a 60 Litre capacity. The design brief from the collage was to ensure that the range of bins fit discreetly within the learning environment and our lightweight steel recycling unit does just that, allowing students to develop a natural recycling habit.

Their recycling concern developed further, and the college decided to be more recycling active, purchasing our Battery Bespoke product. The Battery bins lockable opening with removable front door allows for easier emptying of the clear cylindrical plastic internal liner and there have been fitted internal guidelines for correct disposal. Normally there is a transparent door fixed; however Aberdeen specified they want the unit customised with their college logo, so we affixed a steel door with the design logo to cohere with their other purchased recycling products.

We also had an order placed for our Derby Slimline Steel litter bin, it is both a strong and durable product with 10 year structural guarantee, and so less expense for the college in the long-term. We also ensured that the bins were lockable, so waste is secure in the outdoor area, and protected from any potential vandalism. We also guided the college to choose the Derby Slimline as it is ideal for where footpath space is limited (i.e. where wheelchair access is required or there is heavy foot traffic, such as a college).

A final purchase we received was of our 169 Litre grit bins. Once more these are heavy duty products with a rigid outer structure which includes a strong “through-rod” hinge system which helps to combat any potential vandalism on the college’s site.

Centrally we fitted an infant play unit complete with slide, curved climber, cargo net and steel feet and safer surfaced the whole area with a blue speckled wet pour rubber. For extra fun and activity for those with a "musical flare" we fitted some musical panels to the fence too. All of this has totally transformed this once grey and open hard surfaced area.

Playline Design were awarded the work against 2 other playground companies to create a very adventurous climbing & trim trail area within a very limited and sloping corner area of their playing field adjacent to the A379 into Plymouth. The customer first checked out other sites that Playline had already completed to ascertain how good the installations that they already had completed were, obviously they were very impressed and awarded Playline the contract coupled with the fact that they had best value for money.

The design was to create a linked trim trail consisting of a mix of low and high level items to allow for the use of the equipment by both KS1 and KS2 children. The centre piece was a bespoke built castle that commanded a view over the playing field and road. The castle consisted of a 2m x 2m floor set at between 1.5m - 2m high, a climbing wall, steps, archways, flags and a slide.

The result is a very appealing and usable adventurous activity area set against the main hard play areas to make it usable for most of the year with the use of Saferfall mats laid onto a membrane.

Proof that once we carry out work for a customer they welcome us back time and time again - Playline Design first started working at this school some 3 years ago and have completed phases of work during each of the past 3 years with this being the last of the 3 phases.

Playline were asked to provide quotes for this project and won through with our very bespoke and interesting designs. The brief was to remove the old play unit and cover over the areas of existing safer surfacing so that they weren't visible upon completion.

Our plans included 2 major bespoke pieces, these were the 'Play Ship' & 'Play Castle' together with their respective safer surfaces which had to be bright welcoming. Coupled with this Playline also installed a second Mayflower play unit into the school as they liked the first one so much!!!

The original 2 phases consisted of a 'Play Bus', 'Mayflower' Play unit with wet pour rubber, 'Imagination Playhouse' and thermoplastic markings.

Playline where successful in winning the contract to revamp the complete play area in rock near Wadebridge, Cornwall. Competition was stiff from a number of companies but Playline were awarded the work due to the very imaginative design and value for money. The project had been ongoing for a number of years and all the way along Playline has attended meetings and redesigned the area on a number of occasions, giving the flexibility that is needed on major £60k projects such as this.

Playline have introduced steel feet for their units together with innovative 'leaf style' roofs for a very pleasant finish. It is anticipated that these will be rolled out across the range in the very near future. The project is due to complete at the end of February 2009 at which stage we should have some excellent pictures. North Cornwall District Council are overseeing the work and Playbuilder, who have funded the project are using it as an example to other local groups to promote what is posible when the community gets together and works very hard to achieve a fantastic outcome for the local children. The local people concerned have been actively on site taking pictures and watching the outcome to years of grant sourcing and meetings and hopefully taking a well earned break from it all!!!

In the summer of 2008 we completely revamped the infant playground. Part of the work involved clearing back some extra space into the side of the sloping field. We did this and formed a graded bank and fenced around it. Then we provided a stone base underneath and finished off with a lovely green layer of wet pour rubber that finished flush with the existing playground, this gave the children an extra 64m² of space. We also designed and built a bespoke continuous trim trail at low level, especially designed for the KS1 children.

On the same playground we provided a seating area in the form of our Plymouth Longship boat, a Fireball for ball games and ball shooting skills made especially lower for the younger ones, some Toadstools for storytelling and some thermoplastic markings to brighten the remainder of the area and to provide that extra aspect of physical play without the risk of running into obstacles.

In January 2009 we have just developed the junior playground and field are with a well designed trim trail, Fireball, markings and access to the pond area by means of a deck and pathway. Photos to come soon of the junior area. Please take a look at the KS1 area pictures above.

Altogether a great success with 'Suzie' the headteacher remarking that 'The whole project has transformed play / lunchtimes & has given the children a real focus as well as a sense of enjoyment. The well being of pupils & staff has improved as has the development of teaching beyond the classroom'.

Playline are very proud to announce the option of using galvanised steel feet for their play units and trim trail items. This has come about after a lot of research and designing with a local fabricator to see how best to extend the life of play items.

Widely used by the larger Scandanavian companies, in Britain there are very few that use steel feet.

This option takes the quality of Playline Design's products to an even higher level, especially within the schools section where this option isn't readily available. The cost of using steel feet doesn't add a great deal to the price of the unit but will provide the assurance of knowing that ground rot will not be a problem in years to come.

Playline have very successfully began promoting and installing awnings in various schools and commercial areas. These are a great alternative to the standard shade sails, lean to's and other more traditional shelters. Great where the customer requires there to be the freedom to use the area without posts being present and where they wish to have the option of being able to remove and replace the shelter when needed. These awnings arent the lightweight variety often seen for use at home or in DIY centres, they are built for a commercial purpose and some come complete with mechanical winders, electric winders, wind speed detectors so that they automatically retract in strong wind - all clever stuff!! Please speak to us about the range, there's so much available at surprisingly low prices.

This primary school which nestles beautifully in the South Hams in south Devon asked Playline to come up with something that could be achieved with an area of sunken 'lost ground' beside the playground. Being a small village school, space (or lack of it!!) was a big issue and so anything that could be done to make use of this was welcome. Stuart from Playline drew up an imaginative linked play unit that was accessible from both the playground which stood about 1.5m higher than the 'dead space' and the ground itself. The result was this very impressive play unit suitable for the schools entire age range that incorporated all manner of physical and coordination based activities and looked impressive too! The loose gravel and earth floor was sealed with concrete dust and membrane and a layer of Woodland Play was laid to cover the entire floor and banks of the sunken area to make it usable for almost all of the year.

This large camp run by The Scout Association, requested Playline Design's expertise in bespoke work in designing 2 playground areas for their long established site on the outskirts of Bournemouth.

Playline Design were awarded the £60k contract against 2 other well established professional playground companies due to our bespoke and natural looking design.

The brief was to create as much activity for the cubs, scouts and other children that stay on or use the facilities, to combine it in with the natural environment and create a natural play area.

For this reason our timber equipment was chosen, along with green components and our ever popular Woodland Play safer surfacing - some 380m² of it!!!

In the near centre of the main area stood an ancient knurly old Oak tree which other companies tried to avoid with their plans - we did just the opposite and designed a whole "village" of play towers with one main tower set around the tree itself.

The result is a fantastically challenging, individual and most importantly accessible for less able and wheelchair users alike.

For this reason the camp has invited the local special needs schools in to use the activities and to see just for themselves as to what can be done.

The second area consisted of a huge trim trail winding its way through the trees, again to provide challenges for many ages and abilities.

Just look at these pictures in detail as they do tell the story of what a wonderful project that this turned out to be.

The school requested Playline's expertise in designing a complete playground area, suitable for the schools various age ranges. Playline were very flexible in their approach in designing a trim trail over & around a sloped area using their Woodland Play rubber safer surface, something for which Playline has become well known. Over & above this the school required a 'Sunray Pergola' sheltered area with seating, thermoplastic playground markings & an enclosed play area using pencil fencing for the younger ones. This work was completed during the summer holidays & ran alongside another construction project so timescales & specification were very important. The whole project ran very well with no fuss & the reports from the school have been very positive.

The school had requested that several playground companies visit the school to look at costing a ‘play area’ on the side of a very steep bank with very limited & awkward access, not to be phased by this Playline undertook to design & quote a bespoke castle along the bank @ about 12m long. The situation of the proposed castle was fabulous with views overlooking the Severn estuary. Rather than quoting for standard items such as play towers, Playline’s design won due to the fact that it was designed specifically for the area & fitted in with the schools criteria of providing a role play piece of equipment, mixed with physical play & the ability to use the area for outdoor teaching & events. The job entailed a 100m walk up slopes & steps as well as securing fixings through rock & the prevention of falls from the high front face & access to the rear up the steep hillside.
