Manage the return of large-scale events with an outdoor shelter from Broxap
The final steps of unlocking from Covid restrictions will include the return of full capacity events in England. Sports meetings, weddings, gigs, festivals, parties - Government plans due to come into force from July 19 support the return of major gatherings which have been put on hold for 16 months. Under Stage 4 of the roadmap out of lockdown social distancing is due to end, facemasks will no longer be mandatory by law, and all venues currently closed will be allowed to reopen without limits. Prime Minister Boris Johnson said personal judgement will be key to learning to live with the virus. And while vigilance is called for, at Broxap we are looking forward to making up for lost celebrations.
Upgrade your wedding venue
There will be no limits on the number of people allowed to attend weddings, civil partnerships and receptions in England from July 19. Although rules eased in June, all final restrictions are due to be removed including the need to risk assess weddings held in outdoor private settings and the need for marquees and other structures in these locations to have at least 50 per cent open sides. Whether choosing to tie the knot indoors or outdoors however, venues which play host to celebrations such as weddings will find timber canopy structures like our Caversham Gazebo invaluable. Perfect for wedding shoots, the Caversham is part of our range of timber canopies. It can be dressed with flowers and lights to make a beautiful centrepiece to any garden, and the ideal place to frame the happy couple saying ‘I do’. Or how about a bandstand canopy? With traditional features and a modern finish our collection includes the Beaufort Bandstand, which would be a great serving point for canopies and drinks. Our Rotundas or Gazebo tensile fabric structures are also another good choice for wedding venues, enabling guests – or even the bride and groom - to snatch a few moments of fresh air away from the main party whatever the weather.
Dining under the stars
The restrictions brought about by Covid-19 meant we all had to find new and inventive ways to live, work, socialise and trade. And if outdoor dining is working for your venue, why not make it a more glamorous affair? At Broxap we have a number of large span canopies and polycarbonate shelters which make the best outdoor dining areas. Light and airy, they keep diners dry and shielded from the weather while retaining the atmosphere of an al fresco affair. As well as a series of modular shelters, which allow venues to add, remove and reconfigure sections, we also offer a bespoke design, manufacture and install service. House of Bruar, in Perthshire, boasts a 60-metre long colonnade created by Broxap which includes a triple bay, duo pitch roof to complement its restaurant facilities.
The show will go on
Shows and festivals are also set to return. Events such as the Edinburgh Fringe prove how even the unlikeliest of spaces can be transformed with a little vision into an award-winning performance venue. Our Tensile Fabric Structures are a brilliant investment. Requiring very little maintenance, these canopies are waterproof and treated with UV stabilisers ensuring they stay in shape all year round. And when it’s time for curtains up, they form mini all-weather marquees where audiences can enjoy a drink and a show. Beer and cider festivals, or festive markets and seasonal fairs, also benefit from access to these types of canopy. Whether it is installing a scattering of parasols like at The Rows in Essex, or creating a large, sheltered area with a Triple Conic, a Tensile Fabric Structure is a simple and effective way to encourage regular or pop-up events.
Nightclubs and music venues are among those businesses hardest hit by coronavirus. It is expected they will be able to reopen without people having to take Covid tests or show vaccine passports. And, after being closed completely since March last year, it is hoped visitors will be queuing up to get back on the dancefloors around England. An entrance canopy or glazed canopy from Broxap is just the thing to welcome back clubbers. Keeping people safe and dry while they wait to gain entry, a canopy can also make nightclubs and music venues stand out to visitors. A covered walkway is also a functional and practical investment.
A new-found love of the outdoors
The experiences of the last 16 months have inspired more people to spend extra time outdoors. Events that once before only took place inside four walls have been moved into the open air. And there’s no reasons why it can’t continue with the right infrastructure. Our range of public realm canopies is a fantastic starting point for architectural metalwork structures. At Marlowes shopping area in Hemel Hempstead we created a performance canopy as part of regeneration works. And in Llanelli a giant steel and glass canopy was built by our teams incorporating the work of local artist Laura Thomas.
