Our communities are our workplace.
At Broxap Street Furniture we travel across the UK to deliver and install a wide range of products designed and manufactured by our engineers to make life better for residents, visitors and employees.
Whether it is supporting businesses with bespoke innovative parklets, putting the heart back into parks and recreation grounds with seating and bandstands, or inspiring a sense of pride with branded litter and recycling bins, we take pleasure in creating clean, stylish and welcoming locations.
We deliver cohesion and stability through our street furniture; shelters, canopies and walkways; cycle parking infrastructure; timber playgrounds; sports and outdoor gym equipment.
Because everything we supply is made with respect for the place where it is headed.
At Broxap we understand that improving the economic, social and environmental wellbeing of an area goes much deeper than the holes we drill when installing our products.
So that respect is reflected throughout all areas of our business.

Key aspects of social value

Social value has a lasting impact. Just as our street furniture is designed to serve generation after generation, at Broxap we maximise the longevity of every benefit that comes with selecting us as a supply partner.
Our products improve not only the communities where they are positioned, but also the communities around where they are developed, built and sold.
At our office and production plant in North Staffordshire, we run a number of schemes which set us apart from other street furniture brands.
Driven by innovation and efficiency, we believe in delivering sustainable social value from the ground up.
This includes creating learning opportunities for our teams as well as a programme of apprenticeships and professional development.
We are able to continue to do this thanks to our commitment to UK manufacturing. Investing in our own timber workshop for example has opened up apprenticeships in carpentry and joinery to run alongside an apprenticeship scheme in fabrication and welding engineering.
Choosing Broxap means choosing a company which has clear targets to increase its workforce by 15 per cent over the next three years.
Improvements at our site will not only create job opportunities, they will enhance our competitive edge with investment in new machinery.
In turn, this automation will reduce waste for a greener supply chain and boost overall effectiveness and capacity.
We are making Broxap an even stronger company by following through on our social ideals, looking beyond the costs so that we can continue to bring collective benefits to our communities.
Our site is based in Newcastle-under-Lyme borough, where 5.8 per cent of the working-age population is unemployed. This is higher than the 4.6 per cent recorded for Great Britain and 5.3 per cent for the wider West Midlands region.
As well as job creation through progression, Broxap Street Furniture regularly offers work experience to secondary school pupils as well as paid junior placements and work trials for students over the holidays. This is aimed at tackling local community employment challenges.
At Broxap we recruit both locally and from across the UK as our advisers, installers and engineers travel to contractor sites nationally. Together with our ongoing efficiency improvements, this bolsters our economic resilience.

Beyond the business

With our teams all working out of one site, we have to hand a powerful body of people able to achieve great things.
We use that energy to support organisations close to our heart which are also working to bring about change in our home county and further afield.
From regular dress down days to charity events, our workforce gives generously to charity throughout the year.
Causes we support on a regular basis include Mind, Newcastle Staffs Foodbank and Comic Relief.
These are ongoing partnerships with organisations which align to our values of improving the wellbeing of individuals, communities and the environment.
The impact of these partnerships include the donation of hundreds of meals to those at risk of hunger and poverty and fundraising to help ensure nobody faces a mental health issue alone.

Better places for everyone

Using our street furniture products to support cohesive communities is not just about improving the way a place looks or feels.
Our anti-vandal ranges can support anti-crime initiatives, our wheelchair accessible collections help to foster integration.
Our environmental responsibilities mean we use sustainably sourced natural materials and have management systems in place to reduce the effect of our operations on the planet.
A practical example of our environmental commitment is our annual sponsorship of the Sustrans Big Pedal, a national initiative to encourage more teachers, pupils and parents to ditch the car and walk, cycle, scoot or wheel to school.
As well as exploring ways to enjoy a healthy, happy commute, the scheme supports long-term eco friendly travel options.
Broxap Street Furniture also has experience of working on major socially-focused regeneration projects, such as The Slate Yard in Salford.
We created a bespoke mild steel and hardwood timber canopy for the residential development being led by Morgan Sindall Construction. In total, the entire scheme delivered social value worth £8 million.

Levelling up the UK

Delivering social value is a long-term commitment. And as a company marking its 75th anniversary, we have been making socially responsible conscious decisions for a fair period of time.
Accessible and sustainable design is at the core of our engineering processes to enable us to serve communities that are safe and environmentally focused.
Everything we do is with the ultimate goal of creating a stronger, more resilient UK. We’re in it for the long run.
Broxap Street Furniture is made from the heart; distributed out of the heart of the UK; designed to put the heart back into the home towns we love.
