Network Rail have invested £3.1m in the revamping of Aberystwyth Railway Station and the principal contractor Alun Griffiths working with Atkins Architects tasked Broxap to create a specialist steel and glass entrance canopy as part of the overhaul of the Station frontage at street level.

Working directly with Atkins Architects, Broxap produced designs based around their initial ideas and for a period 2 months ideas/designs and drawings were created until a satisfactory product was submitted for approval.

The agreed design was passed through the lengthy Network Rail approval system before drawings were given final approval for construction.

Once approved for construction the canopy was produced and erected over a three week period by Broxap.

The canopy features a curved ‘fan like’ entrance with heat soaked toughened laminated glass with stainless steel grade 316 glazing spiders, glass joints sealed at time of installation.

Lighting is provided by XLED LED anti vandal lighting and the canopy has a central gutter and downpipes for rainwater. Steel elements are galvanized to BS EN 1461:2009 and powder coated.
