Burntwood School in London was the subject of a huge regeneration project involving Architects Allford, Hall, Monaghan and Morris (AHMM) and Lend Lease Construction (EMEA) Limited.

Broxap were involved at the tendering stages and provided became involved through being specified for certain elements on the project such as litterbins, this led to conversations around the creation of a large scale walkway within the school.

Working closely with the architect and contractors on key issues such as reaching the ‘vision’ required by the architect yet bringing the walkway to fruition within a cost effective budget and timescale Broxap designed a bespoke Burntwood walkway around their Blox style modular canopy.

The galvanized steel and powder coated walkway features  submerged plastisol roof cladding and integral guttering which drains through the uprights and is dispersed at ground level.  Powder coated in RAL Goosewing Grey the whole canopy has a minimalist look and feel and is illuminated at night by integral up lighters situated on the walkway columns.

The walkway cost £79,500.00 and was installed by approved Broxap installers over a period of 3 weeks and has since played a part in helping the School project achieve the accolade of winning the 2015 Riba Stirling Prize.

You can find out more about the project at Allford, Hall, Monaghan and Morris’ website and view the coverage of the winning project at the BBC.
