Dozens more recycling and litter bins have been situated along the Birmingham Canal Navigations in response to boater demand.
The Canal & River Trust approached Broxap Street Furniture to design and manufacture a series of Derby Double E Recycling Bins and our large round Cast Iron Litter Bins.
These are easy to spot along the waterways as they have been finished in the trust’s striking blue corporate colour and include the charity’s logo.
As part of the trust’s Green Plan, it aims to operate as sustainably as possible.
The amount of waste it has diverted away from landfill to be recycled has increased from 66 per cent in 2014/15 to 78 per cent in 2018/19. It invested £775,000 in recycling in 2018/19.
The Derby Double E Recycling Bin has a 240-litre capacity and four posting apertures to the front and back. Green highlighting marks out the recycling side of the bin. Along with the customised detailing, the 20 bins we supplied were given an anti-graffiti polyester powder coat.
The trusts tries to locate recycling bins at every location it has, but due to logistical reasons such as isolated or rural places, it also offers a general waste service to the millions of people who live on or visit the canals.
A total of 34 Broxap round large Cast Iron Litter Bins were delivered to Birmingham in this latest order for the Canal & River Trust.
Painted in Ultramarine Blue, they were designed to complement the steel recycling bins with white lettering and the addition of the trust’s branding.
A spokesman for the Canal & River Trust said: “We’re constantly looking at the services we provide for our customers and refuse and waste sites are no exception.
“We’re dedicated to recycling more and we aim to increase the amount of recycling points available on our waterways with our Green Plan.”
