A new residential development from St George, part of the Berkeley Group, set among landscaped podium gardens, a public park and a waterway in Hendon, north-west London.

The scheme forms part of a wider regeneration of the area around Edgware Road, which has also brought a new Sainsbury's superstore to the neighbourhood, and sits close to Brent Cross and Hendon station with journey times of around 19 minutes into central London.

With residents' amenities including a concierge lounge, co-working space and gym, the external landscaping needed street furniture that matched the quality of the interior spaces, while standing up to everyday use across the development's gardens and cycle areas.

The Brief

NAO Landscapes, appointed to deliver the external works package at Silkstream, approached Broxap to supply cycle parking and outdoor seating for the development's communal areas. The brief called for durable, low-maintenance products with a clean, contemporary look, in keeping with the high specification of the wider scheme, alongside secure and generously sized cycle parking to support residents' everyday journeys.

The Solution

Broxap supplied 25 Stainless Steel Sheffield Cycle Hoops to provide secure, double-sided cycle parking across the development. Manufactured from Grade 304 stainless steel, the hoops resist corrosion and hold their appearance over time without repainting, making them well suited to the exposed, high-footfall areas around residential entrances.

The Sheffield hoop remains one of the most widely specified cycle parking solutions in the UK, allowing cyclists to secure both frame and wheel using a standard lock, and its slim, understated profile means it sits comfortably within a landscaped residential setting rather than dominating it.

For seating, Broxap installed three Willenhall Seats and four Willenhall Benches throughout the podium gardens and public realm. Both products share a steel frame construction with timber slats, offering a neat, modern silhouette that suits the contemporary character of the development. The Willenhall Seat adds steel armrests and six timber slats for a more considered rest point, while the Willenhall Bench, with its slimmer three-slat design, provides simple, comfortable seating at more frequent intervals across the gardens and walkways.

To support outdoor dining and socialising, seven Litchard Picnic Units were installed. Each unit comprises a table and two integral benches in a single cohesive frame, with a heavy-duty steel structure and timber slatted top, galvanised for long-term corrosion resistance. The Litchard's compact, contemporary form made it a practical choice for creating informal gathering spots within the podium gardens, giving residents places to eat, work or socialise outdoors.

Together, the cycle hoops, seating and picnic units were selected to work as a coordinated furniture suite, reinforcing the quality and consistency of the wider Silkstream landscape while giving residents durable, functional spaces to enjoy.
