Hatch End High School Shelter | Covered Walkway Ideas from Broxap

This high school asked Broxap to design a shelter that would cover the open area between two school buildings.

The brief…

One element of the criteria stated that one side of the shelter should be enclosed whilst the other would be open. This would allow access to a mobile classroom.

Furthermore, another purpose of the walkway was to cover a bank of student lockers.

The solution…

Broxap provided a bespoke version of the Newcastle Senior Symmetric shelter with panels to both sides of the initial run.

At the point of the modular building, the panelling was restricted to the opposite side only and the shelter covered the student lockers.

Now that it is installed, the shelter has integral lighting and gutter and rainwater pipe to discharge rainwater at ground level; this will keep the surrounding area safe, as well as the students dry! Finally, Broxap powder coated the shelter Signal Red to complement the existing school and locker colours.
