Building improvements at an Outstanding-rated school have included additional use of outdoor space for dining, socialising and studying.
King Edward VI Aston School marked the opening of its new dining facility, fitness suite and reception area with a ceremony dedicated to headteacher Colin Parker who died suddenly in 2020.
The £2.2 million development, led by contractor E Manton Limited, involved the construction of  a two-storey building plus alterations and demolitions to part of the existing sports hall.
In addition, high-quality external seating and dining tables were made available outside to encourage the students at the boys’ school to spend as much time as possible outdoors during their breaks.
Broxap supplied seven Andromeda concrete tables. These were given a smooth Black Stone finish comprising polished reconstructed stone and a clear water repellent coating.
Fourteen Andromeda Black Stone concrete benches, with warm and comfortable weather-resistant timber tops, were matched to the tables.
The outdoor area was completed with four Turvy Litter Bins finished with gold Tidyman logos and six Sunburst Tree grilles and frames were also supplied.
