A £27 million pound new build school Litherland High required more facility to provide lunchtime dining for pupils. Broxap provided a bespoke solution by providing a version of their standard Newcastle Senior shelter that incorporated sides clad in Multiwall polycarbonate to create a light, bright covered dining areas to the outside of the existing internal canteen.

Existing doors from the canteen lead directly through to the new outside dining area where pupils can sit comfortably at tables and eat lunch beneath the canopy whatever the weather.

Double doors to the side of the canopy allow access to the courtyard outside and the lattice beam element incorporated into the design allows a good ‘air flow’ through the shelter on even the hottest of days, this coupled with the UV reducing Multiwall clad roof give all round protection from the sun, rain and snow.

The structure was polyester powder coated to match the colour of the existing dining room exit facade and is used daily by pupils whom now enjoy more space to take lunch.
