Llanilltud Faerdref Primary School the first new school in Wales delivered through the Welsh Government’s Mutual Investment Model (MIM), part of the Sustainable Communities for Learning Programme’s revenue funding stream.
The school boasts a wide range of new amenities designed to support both learning and play. These include a two-court Multi Use Games Area (MUGA), expansive playing fields with a football pitch and sprint track, and a newly constructed car park equipped with electric vehicle (EV) charging points.
These new facilities complement the outdoor areas introduced when the main school building opened in April 2024. These include a welcoming entrance area with covered cycle storage, a purpose-built outdoor classroom, and several hard-landscaped play zones designed to enrich the learning environment.
To enhance the functionality and comfort of the outdoor spaces, we supplied four vibrant yellow Newcastle Monopitch Shelters positioned around the school grounds. These structures provide shade and protection from the elements, allowing for outdoor learning and play throughout the year.
The Council’s Highways team used additional funding from the Welsh Government to implement ‘Safe Routes in the Community’ upgrades. These improvements include enhanced pedestrian crossings and redesigned junctions, making popular walking routes to the school safer and more accessible.
To support this push for active travel, we manufactured and installed two Junior Apollo Cycle Shelters, each fitted with our Sheffield Cycle Racks to securely store children’s bicycles. These shelters promote healthy lifestyles and help reduce the school’s carbon footprint by encouraging sustainable transportation options.
A number of our robust Eco Steel Litter Bins have been placed throughout the site to maintain cleanliness and promote environmental responsibility. We also manufactured and supplied 14 steel Door Barriers, which provide additional security throughout the school’s entry and exit points.
