A waterside development features a modern take on the traditional seafront shelter offering dynamic views across Dover.
Broxap designed, manufactured and installed a gullwing style canopy for engineering business VolkerStevin as part of the Dover Western Docks Revival project.
The £250 million project concerns the long-term and continuing redevelopment of an area by the Port of Dover.
The early stages of the scheme included a 550-metre long marina pier linked to the promenade which sits at the heart of the new development.
Here, operatives from Broxap installed the canopy to an existing concrete upstand.
The canopy features metal profile sheeting to the roof and toughened glass panels to the side.
Six mild steel bench units, in the style of the Ewenny Bench, were fixed to the concrete base.
Powder coating was to C5-M classification, a highly durable coating for marine conditions where there is a high risk of corrosivity.
The new marina pier opened in 2019, with the marina itself opening in April 2023 following the construction of an extra wave wall.
The iconic venue, against the backdrop of the White Cliffs and Dover Castle, is now expected to host a regular programme of music and events with plans in place for a new hotel and mixed-use scheme offering food and drink and facilities for berth holders.
