The New Rickstones Academy is a co-educational high school for students aged 11-19. Offering a first-class learning and working environment to students and staff, the academy was expanded as part of a project that gave space to 300 pupils.

Southview School is a 3-19 specialist school for Physically and Neurologically Impaired (PNI) children and students with a permanent SEN sixth form, residential places and a hydrotherapy pool designed for pupils with severe neurological and physical impairments. The new building is also set around sensory gardens and outdoor learning spaces.

This project consists of two new buildings, each for separate schools but constructed adjacent to each other on the same site. After Kier Group Plc designed and constructed the foundations, the original tendered canopies went over budget. Broxap manufactured a new design that aligned with the budget and worked with the existing foundations and civil engineering on-site. This required close collaboration with Kier’s Design and Commercial site teams.

We commissioned a custom design of our ever-popular Newcastle Monopitch Walkway. The main walkway was installed at the college entrance, featuring a sturdy, galvanised and powder-coated structure in Umbra Grey (RAL 7022) that offers a sheltered space for students and staff to move between the school and the car park.

Smaller Newcastle Monopitch shelters, manufactured to the same high specifications, were installed at the entrance to the residential building and by the doors leading to the sensory spaces and outdoor learning areas on the opposite side of the Southview SEN College building.

Three runs of our Cambridge Cycle Shelters were installed outside the New Rickstones Academy. Galvanised and powder coated in white (RAL 9016), several of our Sheffield Cycle Racks were placed underneath each one, providing over 60 cycle parking spaces.

The addition of 13 sturdy Stainless Steel Bollards and 12 Door Barriers around the school completed the project and enhanced the security and safety measures on the school premises.
