Blaby District Council, Leicestershire
Blaby District Council commissioned Broxap to design, manufacture and supply a range of litter and dog waste bins for installation across the district, supporting cleaner, more welcoming public spaces for residents and visitors.
Client: Blaby District Council
Year: 2026
The scheme brought together a selection of K-Nine Dog Waste Bins, Derby Litter Bins and Hercules Litter Bins, providing different capacities and formats to suit a variety of locations. With Blaby District containing a wide range of parks, open spaces, walking routes and community areas, the varied specification allowed the bins to be selected according to the needs of each setting, helping to make responsible waste disposal convenient for people using these spaces.

A key feature of the scheme was the consistent visual treatment applied across the range. Every bin was finished in a green RAL 6005 colour scheme, complemented by gold detailing to create a distinctive appearance associated with the council. Gold vinyl banding, laser-cut text with gold backing, the council logo in gold and dual waste identification were incorporated into the designs, providing clear visual information while giving the collection a unified identity.
The clear dual waste labelling also supports Blaby District Council's approach to public space waste disposal, making it clear that litter and bagged dog waste can be deposited in the same location. The council's public space bin policy identifies dual waste bins as a way of increasing opportunities for waste disposal while reducing the need for separate litter and dog waste bins.
The combination of robust construction, practical capacity and clear identification makes the bins well suited to the demands of busy public spaces. Providing convenient disposal points can help encourage people to dispose of litter and dog waste responsibly while helping to maintain cleaner surroundings for everyone using the district's parks, paths and open spaces.
The scheme also included an Eastgate Anti-Vandal Seat, extending the project beyond waste management to provide a durable place for people to stop and rest. Together, the products contribute to public spaces that are easier to use, maintain and enjoy, supporting Blaby's wider network of green spaces where residents can walk, spend time outdoors and enjoy their local environment.

Blaby District Council is responsible for a broad range of local services, including environmental waste, district cleansing, leisure and community services, as well as parks and open spaces. Its public space bin provision forms part of the council's wider approach to keeping public areas clean and accessible, with its cleansing service responsible for the removal of litter from public spaces.
The district has a diverse collection of green spaces, from local parks and nature areas to walking routes and larger sites such as Fosse Meadows, providing opportunities for recreation, family days out and connecting with nature. The new bin scheme provides practical infrastructure across these community spaces while reinforcing a consistent, recognisable identity throughout the district.
