Dunstable Downs is part of the Chiltern Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and covers 1,000 acres of chalk grassland with some areas of woodland. The Dunstable Downs and Whipsnade Estate forms part of the National Trust and is popular with visitors wanting to have a picnic on the grassy downs, explore the footpaths and fly and kite or just admire the view from the café with a coffee and a cake.

Chilterns Gateway Centre is where the café is located, serving a selection of hot and cold dishes and drinks all year round.

Broxap was commissioned to design and manufacture a custom canopy solution for their outdoor seating area. Two of our Kite tensile structures provided shade and shelter for cafe visitors, enhancing their overall dining experience.

Featuring 100% water and UV protection, both canopies were galvanised and powder coated Standard in Nimbus Grey with a cream PVC fabric. This is to ensure the development aligned with the existing building, preserving the visual aspect of the Green Belt area.

Our Sheffield Cycle Racks were also installed nearby as part of the project, providing a safe space for people to park their bikes while they enjoy a break.

The installation process was planned to ensure minimal impact on the cafe's daily business and the park's visitors. Our commitment to quality craftsmanship and client satisfaction was reflected in the positive feedback received.
