This external works package by Broxap was part of a large development project for new student accommodation overseen by lead contractors, RG Group Limited.
Unite Students also introduced East Midlands Landscaping Limited to the project as landscape construction specialist subcontractors to create external design schemes. To finalise these designs, East Midlands Landscaping came to Broxap for inspiration.
Experts from the Broxap team put together a palette of various products, from which the subcontractors specified the external furniture best suited to the site. They chose:
- Various seating and table features.
- Access control.
- Litter bins.
- A shade canopy.
Once specified, Broxap then worked with RG Group to a tight deadline, supplying and installing a fantastic, diverse range of external furniture for this new student accommodation.
Outdoor Furnishings for Unite Student Accommodation
Outdoor Seating Solutions
- 11 x ‘Plaza’ tables in sustainable hardwood, adapted from the Nusser range. Additional, central table legs stabilise the extra length in these units, furthering the durability provided by a galvanised steel frame. Broxap polyester powder coated the frame in DB703 Metallic Grey.
- 22 x ‘Desford’ benches in sustainable hardwood, with extra length to match the Plaza tables.
- 16 x ‘Caerphilly’ seats in mild steel and sustainable hardwood. Broxap powder coated galvanised, geometric frames in a visually striking RAL 9005 Jet Black, offsetting the sanded seats and backrests.
- 5 x ‘Caerphilly’ tables in mild steel and sustainable hardwood with matching backless benches. These streamlined sets of sociable seating units match the customised style of the corresponding standalone seats.
- 12 x ‘Bench Unit’ stools based on the timber ‘Gateside’ Cube. These 40cm high, root fixed cubes are in planed, sanded softwood. They aim to maximise the provision for varied, sociable seating options.
Practical External Furnishings
- 8 x Flat Top ‘Sheffield’ bollards in stainless steel. Broxap finish these bollards with a matt satin polish as standard.
- 14 x ‘Derby Compact’ litter bins. These bins are slightly smaller than the well-known Derby range’s standard design. However they remain highly configurable, with contractors able to specify features relevant to their site.
Shaded Hammock Area
In addition to a Broxap external furniture package, East Midlands Landscaping designed a hammock area for this student accommodation village! To complete this relaxing space, they chose Broxap’s ‘Sydney’ hyperbolic tensile canopy; this impressive feature is not only waterproof, but also provides UV protection, meaning students can take a break whatever the weather.
