A new community being developed on the site of a former Second World War munitions factory has been watching the latest green space take shape.
Wixams is a new village of 4,500 homes spread across four distinct neighbourhoods.
The first neighbourhood, known as Lakeview Village, has been completed and housebuilding is well underway on phase two, Harrowden Green, and phase 4, Willow Park.
This includes the creation of a play area and gardens, which feature seating and other site improvements supplied by Broxap Street Furniture.
Our Streetscene division was contacted by contractor Kings Landscapes, working on behalf of client L&Q Estates, to supply a range of high-quality products including six Kedleston timber seats and three Brocastle picnic units.
Six root-fixed and two removeable timber bollards will help to keep children, parents and carers using the area safe.
And everyone enjoying a picnic can keep the gardens clean and tidy thanks to three Derby standard litter bins, powder coated to match the agreed colour scheme.
The timber street furniture, made at our North Staffordshire workshop, will complement the children’s play area which takes on a medieval feel.
The space sits near the western gateway to the Wixams and on a largely flat site. Artificial mounds provide lookouts for children to defend their territory, in a nod to nearby Cainhoe Castle.
