Working Hours: Monday to Friday 08:00 - 16:30, with additional hours as may be required

The Role:

As we continue to grow, we’re searching for a Director of Purchasing, a commercially astute, strategically minded procurement leader, to join our senior leadership team and take charge of our purchasing operation.

Reporting directly to the Manufacturing Director, you will oversee the entire procurement function, managing a team of six experienced buyers, and take ownership of the sourcing strategy for steel, components, and subcontract services predominantly in the UK, but also overseas.

You will be accountable for ensuring quality, cost-efficiency, and continuity of supply across a complex supply chain, while also driving rebate income, cost savings, and supplier performance improvements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of buyers across multiple procurement categories.
  • Design and implement a procurement strategy focused on cost reduction, value engineering, and supplier optimisation.
  • Manage offshore purchasing and build resilient international supplier relationships.
  • Negotiate long-term supplier agreements, including rebate and incentive-based contracts.
  • Monitor market trends (particularly steel) to manage supply risks and drive competitive advantage.
  • Drive key KPIs including Total cost savings, Supplier OTIF (On-Time In-Full), Lead time reduction, Inventory turnover & PO accuracy, Rebate income & supplier compliance
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with manufacturing, engineering, and finance teams.
  • Champion ERP and reporting system improvements to enhance procurement visibility and accuracy.

What We're Looking For:

  • Minimum 10 years of procurement experience, with at least 3 years in a senior/leadership role within manufacturing.
  • Proven success in sourcing steel and fabrication components for manufacturing or construction.
  • Strong commercial acumen, negotiation skills, and experience with international suppliers.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems (SAGE/Sicon preferred) and procurement analytics.
  • A hands-on, performance-driven leader with the ability to influence at all levels.
