About Us:

Broxap is a family owned engineering business based in Newcastle under Lyme, Staffordshire, established in 1946.  We are market leaders in the design and manufacture of street furniture, shelters, covered walkways and playground equipment.

Working Hours: Monday to Friday 08:00 - 16:30, with additional hours as may be required

Holidays: 25 days holiday entitlement, plus 8 bank holidays

The Role:

We are seeking an experienced and proactive Fabrication Engineering Buyer to join our dynamic procurement team.

This role is key to ensuring that Broxap products are purchased efficiently, cost-effectively, and to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the purchasing of Broxap products using both operational and strategic procurement methods.
  • Develop and refine processes to increase efficiency across the procurement function.
  • Negotiate competitive pricing for products and services to maximise profit margins while maintaining Broxap’s standards for delivery performance and material quality.
  • Engage with suppliers regarding cost, performance, and continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Work collaboratively to achieve departmental KPIs, while also demonstrating strong initiative when working independently.
  • Manage supplier relationships and proactively seek opportunities to reduce costs.
  • Lead supplier resourcing initiatives and contribute to VA/VE (Value Analysis/Value Engineering) activities.
  • Maintain strong commercial awareness—understanding both cost impacts and their influence on sales and delivery performance.
  • Use and interpret the company MRP system effectively to manage procurement demands.
  • Support offshore procurement activities where required.

Experience and Required Skills:

  • Ideally experienced in buying and/or project costing within the steel fabrication industry; however, training will be provided for the right candidate.
  • Strong negotiation skills with the ability to communicate effectively at all supplier levels.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise workload effectively.
  • Commercially aware with the ability to analyse cost drivers and identify savings opportunities.
  • Experience in offshore procurement is advantageous.
