Maghull Town Council.

Maghull Town Council have set out to improve their green spaces, making them more accessible to local residents.

There first mission  is to tackle litter in their parks with a specific focus on dog waste.

The existing dog waste bins were outdated and local councillors had mentioned how difficult it had become to keep them clean and emptied. That’s where Broxap came in.

Broxap were contacted to design, manufacture and install a series of litter bins. These bins would need to  provide a dual solution to both  litter and dog waste in parks around Maghull.

Broxap provided 30 Derby Standard Litter Bins, as well as five Derby Double Recycling Units to Maghull Town Council. The bins provided were dual purpose as the council’s main aim was to clear their park of dog waste. This was reflected in the design of the bin which saw laser cut text reading both ‘litter’ and ‘dog waste’ as well as vinyl sticker logos which read:

“Dog waste accepted in this bin”

Having this message in a prominent spot on the bin will encourage residents to properly dispose of their dog waste.

“The new bins are more visible and will accommodate large amounts of litter and waste […] I hope they will encourage even more dog owners to clear up after their dogs”

– Councillor, Yvonne Sayers

These new bins were designed to ‘stand out’ therefore the obvious choice was for them to be created in a bright colour. Therefore yellow (RAL 1018) was chosen for the bins.

The new bins also display a laser cut image of the towns logo. Helping to promote town pride, something which lies at the heart of this project.

“The replacement of the bins with the new yellow ones is the first step in the systematic process that will result in gradual improvements in green spaces across Maghull”

– Councillor, Yvonne Sayers
