This school contacted Broxap with a requirement for an outdoor classroom that would allow access out onto the existing playground beyond.
Broxap visited the school and discussed the possibilities before providing a specification sheet detailing a Newcastle Senior Shelter which the school liked the look of. Broxap took this and added panels to the sides and fire exit ‘push bar’ style double doors to allow access to the playground.
The shelter side panels sit slightly above the ground allowing airflow through the shelter and are complete with Clearview PETg UV polycarbonate, the doors have a ‘Briton panic bar’ system and concealed overhead closers with surface mounted top and locking bolts. The door contains clear laminated safety glass and the whole structure was powder coated a bright traffic red.
The roofing element is clad with Multiwall polycarbonate filtering harmful UV rays but allowing plenty of light through to the space below. Rainwater is shed to the shelter front edge and dispersed via downpipes at the shelter ends.
