The government has outlined a new town regeneration strategy with The Long–Term Plans for Towns, and Broxap is here to help transform ideas into reality.

As a family business which recently celebrated its 78th anniversary, we have always been set on improving the appearance and functionality of our street. Our latest improvements reflect how we are and have always been a future-ready company.

What are Long-Term Town Plans?

Long-term town Plans are part of the government's levelling-up program for British towns. The program has invested more than £13 billion so far to support projects in places that have been taken for granted. The plan aims to regenerate local towns across England, Scotland, and Wales over the next decade, with funding and support totalling up to £20 million.

At Broxap, we understand that for many of us, towns are the places we call home. They are the places we grew up in, work in, and want to raise our families in. We have proudly operated from the heart of Chesterton, in Newcastle-under-Lyme borough, for over 75 years and don't plan to change. At our core lies a dedication to creating street furniture and shelters, canopies, and walkways that transform the cities, towns, and villages we love into sociable, functional places.

Which towns will get funding?

The local authorities eligible for funding have already been preselected using a methodology set up by the Department of Education. These criteria included targeting areas with the highest levels of deprivation and sufficient representation across the three high-level Rural Urban Classifications.

Between the 1st of April 2024 and 1st of August 2024, the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities will release the next £200,000 of capacity funding to support the development of the Long-Term Plan, including additional community engagement activity. Town boards made up of local community leaders and employers will draw up their town's Long-Term Plan for the next ten years and submit it to unlock their funding.

At Broxap, we work as a team to bring architectural visions to life. We customise our products to enable people of all backgrounds and abilities to enjoy outdoor spaces and innovate in our designs to support interaction with the built environment.

What kind of street furniture is best for towns?

Choosing the right street furniture for your town enhances the public spaces available, making them more functional and inviting. As the UK's leading street furniture designer, manufacturer, and installer, we provide a wide variety of seating, litter bins, bollards, planters, and signage; shelters, canopies, and walkways; timber playgrounds; sports; and outdoor gym equipment.

Contemporary seating

Whether residents are taking a stroll through town or visitors coming to see a specific tourist attraction, everyone needs to take a seat and recharge for a few minutes. That's why it's so important to have comfortable and adequate seating installed.

At Broxap, we have over 350 types of outdoor benches and seating, ranging from sturdy steel benches to classic timber picnic tables. If you are looking for something a little more unique, we can help you design, manufacture, and install your vision. Take a look at the contemporary public plaza we created for the community to enjoy in Twickenham Gateway, London.

Tidy towns

One of the major parts of regenerating a town is clearing litter to ensure clean streets and taking proactive measures to ensure they stay that way. Installing litter bins throughout the town provides places for people to dispose of their litter sustainably.

Placement matters here, too. Strategically placing bins in high-traffic zones such as public parks, building entryways, and bus stops can increase the amount of litter collected and reduce the amount that ends up on the streets. Adding a recycling bin next to a litter bin takes you a further step in the right direction and helps to increase your town's carbon neutrality.

Keeping up to date with events

Whether it's a display case showcasing the latest town news and events or a signage column that helps visitors find their way around, street and outdoor signs add personality and charm.

Broxap offers flexible, modular systems to produce creative and bespoke signs. We can supply standard components such as signage columns, finger arms, display boards, and finials to support the creation of interchangeable combinations.

Adding greenery

Research shows that green spaces within a town can provide stress relief, increase social interaction, and encourage physical exercise. Adding plants and greenery also improves the overall air quality of your town!

At Broxap, we design and manufacture the UK’s largest range of attractive planters. Our stylish design range includes cast iron, steel, stainless steel, recycled plastic, concrete, and timber to complement the town street furniture and suit the location.
