Facilities and office managers specifying recycling bins for offices regularly aim to fix the same problem: to fit effective waste segregation into a corridor, breakout area or reception without taking up floor space, or creating a cleaning burden
Broxap's range of indoor recycling bins utilise steel and stainless steel construction, including capacities matched to real office footfall. These also use both single- and multi-compartment formats so staff and visitors can sort waste correctly.
Our range covers offices, schools, hospitals and visitor attractions, with shapes, styles and configurations available in capacities up to 300 litres. Products can be supplied with individual logos and labels, or bold colour schemes, and the team can recommend standard styles, colours and icons for sites that want an instantly recognisable recycling theme.
2 and 3 Compartment Recycling Bins
Broxap's Daventry Internal Recycling Bin is available as a single unit, or in the double and triple configurations most commonly searched for as a 2 compartment recycling bin and 3 compartment recycling bin. The double unit provides two 60-litre compartments (120 litres total) for splitting general waste from mixed recycling, while the triple unit adds a third 60-litre compartment (180 litres total) for more granular segregation: paper, cans and general waste, for example. Both are built from 1.5mm galvanised steel with laser-cut lids and are lockable as standard.
For sites with tighter floor plans, the Office Spacesaver Recycling Bin offers a slim, single-sided 60-litre unit that can be banked in twos, threes, fours or fives (up to 300 litres total) to build the same multi-stream setup without the depth a fixed multi-compartment unit needs.
Cleaning and Hygiene
Indoor recycling bins get handled constantly, so cleaning method matters as much as capacity. Per our Operation & Maintenance manual for litter and recycling bins:
-
Galvanised and powder-coated steel units (including the Daventry and Office Spacesaver ranges) should be cleaned with warm, mild soapy water and a soft brush or sponge, then rinsed with clean water. Abrasive cleaners, solvents and other chemicals should be avoided.
-
A high-pressure jet wash is not recommended on any indoor unit, as it can affect the adhesion of graphics, decals and identification labelling.
-
Stainless steel units require less frequent attention indoors: internal environments only need cleaning as required to maintain appearance, considerably less than the 3–12 month intervals recommended for units sited outdoors.
-
When emptying, staff should be aware of sharps that may be present in general waste, and a scraper is recommended for cleaning inside the bin base.
This lighter, less frequent cleaning regime is one of the practical reasons indoor recycling bins are cheaper to maintain than external units exposed to weather and higher contamination.
Eco-Friendly and Recycled-Plastic Options
Most of Broxap's indoor recycling bins are galvanised or stainless steel, chosen for durability under constant indoor handling. For sites prioritising recycled material content, particularly at building entrances, atriums or office campuses where an indoor unit hands off to an outdoor collection point, the Synergy Recycling Unit is manufactured from 100% recycled polyethylene, with a 200-litre dual-stream capacity (2 x 100 litres) and galvanised steel liners. It's built for entrance-level and campus locations rather than desk-side use, so it's best specified alongside the steel internal range as part of a coordinated site-wide waste strategy rather than as a like-for-like swap.
Built to Recognised Standards
These units are designed and manufactured under Broxap's ISO 9001:2015 (Quality), ISO 14001:2015 (Environmental) and ISO 45001:2018 (Health & Safety) certifications, with structural steel components CE-marked.
Broxap is also Constructionline, CHAS and Alcumus SafeContractor accredited, for procurement teams that need to verify supplier credentials before ordering. Browse the full indoor recycling bin range today.
For most offices, a single-stream slim unit (such as the Office Spacesaver, 60 litres) works well in corridors and reception areas with limited space, while shared kitchens, breakout areas and larger footfall zones are better served by a 2- or 3-compartment unit (such as the Daventry double or triple) that separates general waste from recycling in one footprint. Sites wanting a recycled-material option at entrances or campus areas can pair these with the Synergy dual-stream unit.
Yes. Broxap's Daventry range includes a double unit (2 x 60 litres = 120 litres total), commonly searched for as a 2 compartment recycling bin, and a triple unit (3 x 60 litres = 180 litres total), commonly searched for as a 3 compartment recycling bin. Both use the same galvanised steel construction and laser-cut lids as the single Daventry unit.
Galvanised and powder-coated steel bins should be cleaned with warm, mild soapy water and a soft brush or sponge, then rinsed with clean water. Avoid using abrasive cleaners, solvents and high-pressure jet washing, because they can affect graphics adhesion. Stainless steel indoor units need cleaning only as required to maintain appearance, since they're not exposed to the weathering that drives the more frequent outdoor cleaning schedules.
Broxap's Synergy Recycling Unit is made from 100% recycled polyethene, with a 200-litre dual-stream capacity (2 x 100 litres). It's designed primarily for entrances, atriums and office campus locations rather than desk-side internal use, so it's typically specified alongside the steel internal range rather than in place of it.
Capacities range from a single 60-litre Office Spacesaver unit up to a 300-litre 5-aperture Spacesaver bank, with Daventry single, double (120 litres) and triple (180 litres) units in between. Configuration depends on footfall and the number of waste streams a site needs to separate.
