Activity, attractiveness and accessibility were among the key aims of Kirklees Council as part of its strategic development of Dewsbury town centre.
Objectives included extending and improving the public realm to create an attractive and vibrant open space which residents and visitors would want to spend time in.
The council’s Better Spaces Strategy identified a shortage of green open space in Dewsbury town centre and, as well as creating more usable areas, the early stages of the project focused on cleaning up and regenerating existing assets.
In Market Place, six new planters were delivered by Broxap Street Furniture manufactured to the town’s high quality design standards.
The Lanarkshire Galvanised Steel Planters from Broxap were powder coated black and featured two classic gold alloy bands.
They were selected to enhance the town’s character and its attractiveness under the strategy’s goals, and positioned so that Market Place remained easy to navigate.
The Lanarkshire Planters were built to the standard 1000mm square x 750mm high dimensions, providing distinct, visually interesting improvements to the public realm.
