Extensive public realm improvements formed a key part of an £80 million retail and leisure development to regenerate a market town.
Baron’s Quay in Northwich is made up of more than 30 units offering a wide spectrum of attractions including restaurants, shops and a cinema.
The public realm space was designed into the area to accommodate events and encourage greater use by the community.
Contractor Balfour Beatty worked with Broxap Street Furniture to enhance protection for the public through the inclusion of high quality bollards and barriers.
A combination of root fixed and removable bollards were supplied to maximise safety while creating a flexible space that could be used for a variety of functions.
Stainless steel was selected for its impact resistance and strength as well as its aesthetic and long term value.
The public areas at Baron’s Quay feature high quality granite paving, steps, benches and LED lighting.
To complement this, Broxap provided a total of 21 root fixed Semi-domed Stainless Steel Sheffield Bollards with red reflective bands.
The same style of bollard was made available in a removable format, with Broxap supplying 11 matt satin polished stainless steel removable Sheffield Bollards with ground sockets.
Vehicle protection was also a key consideration and two galvanised steel circular shaped Lamp Post Protection Barriers, powder coated yellow for high visibility and safety, were located in the car park to help prevent accidental damage to infrastructure.
