A new village school, built to accommodate the needs of a growing community, is benefiting from a range of purpose-built outdoor facilities which will go on serving generations of pupils.
Woodford Primary School, in Stockport, welcomed its first pupils in time for the 2022-23 academic year.
It was built on the site of the former Woodford Aerodrome and serves the families on the newly developed Woodford Garden Village.
It is part of a raft of community amenities being created by housebuilder Redrow as part of the development.
Working for contractor Conlon Construction, Broxap designed, manufactured and installed a variety of products from its shelters and cycle parking range as well as playground equipment from the Hand Made Places division.
The Caversham Gazebo, complete with timber seating, fence panels and decking, provides a shady place for summer activities as well as outdoor classroom space.
Active play is encouraged with a Heron’s Nest climbing frame installed in the KS1 playground and a Hawk’s Nest frame in the Key Stage 2 playground.
New wet pour safety surfacing marks out the play areas.
Sympathetic landscaping includes a bespoke Blox secure compound to screen a bins area.
A Blox B open front shelter was chosen, continuing the timber theme, to provide a dry, sheltered comfortable waiting area for parents on the approach to the school.
As a single source supplier for outdoor projects, Broxap was also able to supply Sheffield Cycle Parking Stands and Door Barriers as part of the order.
