Everton Football Club were looking to enhance their fan experience on match days . Home fans have a Fan Zone which is an area outside of the ground at the end of the Park End car park. This opens three hours before kick off but was uncovered and didn’t have a clear focal point.

The club’s Facilities Manager Richard Cairns and Events Manager Suzie Parker contacted Broxap Ltd. In view of having a shelter/canopy that could become the focal point for supporters, keeping them dry on wet match days and also provide an impressive looking structure with a sense of theatre all at a reasonable price.

Broxap suggested one of their Keep it Kool Twin Conic fabric tensile canopies.

This would present a dramatic focal point for supporters to meet beneath prior to kick off, whilst keeping them dry on wet days and shaded from the sun on event the hottest day.

The main structure was powder coated in a blue to match traditional Everton colours whilst the fabric element was in white to create a bright, ambient feel beneath and lighting was added for darker days or night matches.

The Club have said that feedback from supporters has been very positive with many pleasing comments and a feeling of gratefulness for the cover. Supporters are now also spending longer in the area ultimately having the added effect of them spending more at the retail outlets surrounding the structure.

The club now plans to introduce other elements to the area many beneath the Conics to enhance the Match Day experience these include ‘Giveaways’, Appearances from former players’ and ‘live music for local artists’.
