The Cambridge Hybrid Two Tier shelter offers the highest capacity of all of our cycle shelters and is perfect for housing the Easi-Riser Two Tier Cycle Parking System (sold separately).

The Cambridge Hybrid is a high-capacity cycle parking solution designed around a two tier bike rack system, providing maximum storage within a compact shelter footprint. Developed for sites where cycle demand is high and space is limited, this hybrid structure is particularly well suited to transport hubs, education campuses, commercial developments, and urban residential schemes. By housing a double-stacked parking arrangement with access from both sides, the Cambridge Hybrid delivers one of the most efficient cycle storage formats available for public realm and secure cycle infrastructure projects.

Product Details:

Utilising the Two Tier cycle storage system (sold separately), the Cambridge Hybrid can hold an impressive 48 cycles within a single five metre shelter with access from both sides.

High-Density Double Deck Bike Rack Storage

The Cambridge Hybrid is engineered to accommodate a double deck bike rack configuration, allowing up to 48 cycles to be stored within a single five-metre module when paired with the Easi-Riser Two Tier Cycle Parking System (sold separately).

This makes it an ideal solution where planners and specifiers require:
• Maximum capacity per square metre
• Clear, organised cycle parking layouts
• Long-term durability in busy public environments
• Future-proof expansion potential

The design supports both commuter and long-stay parking requirements, particularly in areas with growing active travel demand.

Cambridge Cycle Shelter Design and Practical Access

Unlike single-sided shelters, the Cambridge Hybrid offers access from both sides, improving circulation and reducing congestion during peak usage periods.

Typical applications include:
• Rail stations and park-and-ride facilities
• Universities and secondary schools
• Workplace cycle parking hubs
• High-density housing developments
• Town centre public cycle storage zones

As a Cambridge cycle shelter, it provides an effective balance of capacity, usability, and architectural integration.

Two Tier Cycle Rack Construction and Materials

The shelter structure is built for long-term external performance, with robust steel framing and vandal-resistant roof options.

Roof Cladding Options
• Trapezoidal steel profile roof panels
• Durable weather protection for year-round use
• Suitable for exposed or high-footfall environments

Frame Finish
• Polyester powder coating available in a wide range of RAL colours
• Allows coordination with wider streetscape or development palettes
• Suitable for both contemporary and civic-led schemes

This creates a reliable two tier cycle rack enclosure that performs well across demanding UK conditions.

Modular Expansion and Future Capacity

A key advantage of the Cambridge Hybrid is its modular construction. Shelters can be extended or retrofitted at a later date, allowing capacity to increase without redesigning the entire installation.

This is particularly valuable for:
• New developments with phased occupancy
• Local authority cycling infrastructure rollouts
• Schools or workplaces anticipating growth in cycle uptake

The system supports long-term planning while helping manage installation costs over time.

Optional Enhancements for Secure Cycle Parking

To support usability and safety, the Cambridge Hybrid can be specified with a range of additional features, including:
• LED lighting for improved visibility
• Solar lighting options where mains power is limited
• Multiple shelter banks for larger cycle parking schemes
• Integration with Broxap cycle stands and access control solutions

Often specified alongside secure compounds, Sheffield racks, or wider cycle hub infrastructure.

Coordinating with Broxap Cycle Parking Infrastructure

The Cambridge Hybrid shelter can form part of a wider active travel package and is frequently paired with other Broxap products such as:
• Covered cycle shelters and compounds
• Cycle stands for visitor parking
• Bollards and pedestrian protection features
• Street furniture and seating for transport interchanges

This ensures consistency across public realm and development-led cycling schemes.
