Our custom-built Blox cycle hub houses our two-tier storage system at The Christie NHS Trust, providing effortless operation and space for 210 bicycles. Built with a robust steel frame, durable timber cladding, and a heavy-duty stainless steel access-controlled door, this facility combines functionality, security, and style to encourage active travel for hospital staff and visitors.
Client: Integrated Health Projects
Year: 2024
Inside the hub, we fitted our Easi-Riser two-tier cycle storage system, complete with a gas strut mechanism to make lifting bikes onto the upper level effortless. This system enables the storage for 210 bicycles without compromising accessibility. The ease of operation encourages more users to store their bikes properly, helping maintain a tidy and organised facility at all times.

The custom blox shelter itself is constructed from a robust steel frame, chosen for its long-term strength and resistance to wear. This is paired with timber cladding, which adds a natural, architectural finish that sits comfortably within the hospital’s outdoor grounds. The combination of materials delivers both durability and visual appeal, ensuring the hub remains functional and attractive for years to come.
Security is enhanced by an access-controlled door, providing authorised entry only. This feature safeguards bicycles against theft and damage, giving users peace of mind and encouraging more staff to travel by bike. The secure access also allows the hospital to monitor usage effectively, ensuring the facility serves those it’s intended for.
