Inspiring outdoor spaces have been created for a new school community to help every pupil achieve their best.
The first Year 7 students started at The Kingsbrook School in September 2022, marking the opening of state-of-the-art educational facilities to serve the new Kingsbrook neighbourhood development.
The secondary school and sixth form has been designed to accommodate 900 students as well as 180 sixth-formers and features a 32-place SEND unit.
Contractor Morgan Sindall Construction led the project for Buckinghamshire Council following the completion of Kingsbrook View Primary Academy, which Broxap also worked on.
The outdoors is of specific importance at the low-carbon, energy efficient school which is situated in the nature-friendly Kingsbrook estate.
At the secondary school, we were asked to design, manufacture and install two bespoke dining canopies, to encourage students to benefit from time outdoors during their breaks.
Finished with grey trapezoidal steel profile cladding and powder coated framework, the dining areas are further complemented by fabric canopies elsewhere in the school grounds.
This includes two cantilever style canopies and a fixed parasol with white PVC shade offering waterproof UV protection.
Our Hundleton concrete and timber round picnic units offer reliable, low maintenance outdoor dining furniture with a series of Litchard Picnic Units creating spaces for study and socialising.
Litchard Seats and Litchard Benches, as well as Saughton Benches and Seats, were also supplied, featuring FSC certified timber to support the build’s sustainability commitments.
An amphitheatre will accommodate performances, shows and presentations with our team creating the timber top seating in a series of sections.
Three timber planters help to create a warm welcome at the school and of course recycling is a priority in this sustainable space with 28 Synergy bins in place around the site. A Compost Cottage compost store and Oxford Boot and Shoe Cleaner complete a garden area.
Morgan Sindall Construction took advantage of the single source supplier benefits that come from working with Broxap to include outdoor gym equipment in the build.
From our Sunshine Gym division, an outdoor Rower and Balance Beam was supplied and installed.
Stainless Steel Bollards and Stainless Steel Sheffield Cycle Hoops feature at the school with Door Barriers including a perforated steel panel adding the final finish.
