Rufford Primary & Nursery School, Nottingham

This School required an outdoor classroom covered area and also built within it a secure storage area for toys and teaching items, these would be kept locked away at night yet not be taken back into internal classrooms and use up vital space inside.

Broxap solved the solution by comprising a Monopitch canopy to create the outdoor area and then at the end incorporated a ‘box’ style storage area that was accessed via perforated automated roller shutter doors. This allowed the school to place items within the area beneath the canopy and close down this area of the canopy with the shutter doors creating a secure storage area.

This area could also be utilised on very wet and windy days by only shutting the front shutters and one side to create a fully covered teaching area.

The canopy also benefits from integral lighting and the perforated shutters allow a good amount of light in when in the down position.

The School now has a very functional and practical outdoor area for the children to play and learn beneath.
