The Wistaston Academy contacted Broxap Ltd in view to creating an extension to one of their current Early Learning Years classrooms.
The shelter needed to allow access from the existing classroom yet have the facility to be secured during out of hours and holidays, plus be utilised all year around whatever the weather.
Broxap designed, manufactured and installed a version of their Newcastle Monopitch shelter that has integrated roller shutter security doors to allow full enclose of the shelter out of hours or during poor weather.
Rainwater is collected via integral guttering at the front of the shelter and flows through down pipes at the side and into a water butt for use in planted and growing areas within the playground.
Side panels of PETg UV allow sunlight in yet filter harmful UV rays and the finished product allows more pupils to play and learn outside increasing space within the existing classroom.
