A Competitive Trim Trail for School Playgrounds
The Race Trail is an outdoor trim trail designed to introduce competition and teamwork into physical play. Its defining feature is the dual parallel layout, which allows two children or teams to complete the course at the same time, encouraging engagement, motivation and repeat use through informal racing and group challenges.
Suitable for children aged 6 and above, the trail supports physical development by combining balance, climbing and coordination activities within a clearly structured route.
Dual Parallel Course Layout
The trim trail is arranged as two mirrored runs of equipment, ensuring both sides offer the same level of challenge. This layout supports fair competition and allows multiple users to participate simultaneously, making it well suited to busy school playgrounds.
Construction and Materials
The Race Trail is constructed from heavy-duty timber for durability in outdoor play environments. Rope and chain elements are designed for long service life, while timber steps are positioned at various heights to introduce progression and physical challenge.
Safety Surfacing and Space Requirements
Several elements reach a height of up to 2 metres, resulting in a critical fall height of 2 metres. Additional safety surfacing is required across the activity area and should be specified in line with playground safety standards. Adequate circulation space should also be allowed to support safe use and supervision.
